Tendinitis of the surface flexor of the finger in horses: problems of occurrence, treatment and rehabilitation

Abstract

The article presents the results of the study of the origin and prevention of tendinitis, the development of modern methods and approaches to the treatment of diseases of the surface flexor of the finger (PSP) in horses, describes the place of ultrasound examination (ultrasound) in the picture of diagnosis and evaluation of the prognosis of the disease, shows the role of the rehabilitation program, indicating the main parameters. The issues of treatment of traumatic aseptic inflammation of the tendon-ligament apparatus of the limbs of horses do not go off the agenda due to the widespread use of various types of equestrian sports, participation in which is often accompanied by animal injuries. The consequences of injuries are often represented by chronic diseases of tendons of the limbs, and this has a direct impact on the subsequent performance of horses. The tendon of the surface flexor of the finger performs the function of transferring muscle energy to the fetter joint in the horse, enhances the effect of muscle contraction on the periphery, absorbs the energy of blows during movement and works as a source of energy accumulation. Currently, there are many ways to treat tendinitis of the surface flexor of the finger. The method of treatment usually depends on the degree of damage to the tendon. Ultrasound diagnostics is important not only for the exact diagnosis or selection of the appropriate method of treatment, but also for the formation of the forecast for the further operation of the animal, which is important for the owner. The prognosis usually depends on the degree of injury to the tendon, the area of its rupture, the location of the injury, as well as the chosen therapy and, ultimately, the rehabilitation program. For the successful treatment of tendinitis of the surface finger flexor of horses, it is necessary to conduct timely diagnosis with the use of ultrasound, a combination of rational treatment and a properly compiled rehabilitation program with the prevention of retrovmatization.
